"Great Decisions Groups" for 2017

The World Affairs Council is once again sponsoring a series of discussion groups based on the Foreign Policy Associations Great Decisions program. The discussion groups meet eight times from February to May in 2017 and cover a series of topics chosen by the Foreign Policy Association related to major foreign policy issues facing the U.S. The 2017 topics are Brexit and the EU; Trade; China and the South China Sea; Saudi Arabia; Petroleum and Foreign Policy; Latin America: From Ideology to Pragmatism; Afghanistan and Pakistan; and Nuclear Security. More information on the topics can be found on the FPAs website: www.fpa.org/greatdecisions.

Advance registration for the program is required. Each participant is asked to purchase a background book covering the topics for 2017. The WACSC purchases these books in bulk and makes them available for $17 per single copy or $25 for two copies for the same household.

Discussion groups for World Affairs Council members are held at Spring Lake Village. Discussion groups are planned for the second and fourth Mondays at 10 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m. beginning February 13; and also on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. beginning February 14. If you are interested in participating in these groups, please contact Barbara Fry at wacbarbara@gmail.com before December 21.

Additional discussion groups are held at Oakmont for Oakmont residents and their guests.
