Meet Patrick Connolly, WACSC Board Member

<- Back to 'Meet the Board'

Patrick comes to the Board with rich experience and expertise in international banking and finance, coupled with a keen interest in world affairs. Indeed, over the past few years, he has made presentations to the World Affairs Council of Sonoma County on South Africa and the World Bank. Patrick will be invaluable in keeping WACSC vital.

He writes:

I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and after high school I briefly attended the University of Witwatersand before transferring to Ireland to the National University in Dublin, where I earned my Batchelor’s degree in Economics and Politics. After graduating in 1964, I took a position with Gulf Oil Corporation in London, serving in Belgium, Japan and Korea

Patrick holds a Ph.D. and Master’s degree in International Finance and Politics from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University and Harvard University. He earned his Bachelor’s in Economics and Politics from the National University in Dublin, Ireland. Patrick  resides in Windsor.

From there I headed to the U.S. to pursue further education at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts and Harvard, earning my Master’s and Ph.D. in International Finance and Politics. Following my graduate studies, I took a position with the First National Bank of Boston, with overseas assignments in the U.K., Europe and the Far East. In 1991 the World Bank came calling, where I began a 12-year run involving economic development in Africa and South Asia.

After retiring from the World Bank, my wife and I moved to Northern California to be closer to our daughter and our two grandchildren. I currently devote my time to oil and watercolor painting, while enjoying our wonderful Santa Rosa Symphony and local theaters.
