With Barry Eichengreen

How long can a good thing last? For decades the US Dollar has been the world’s primary reserve currency, providing an almost endless windfall of riches to the United States.

But our good fortune hasn’t gone unnoticed, causing more than a few foreign leaders to declare that the dollar’s role is an “Exorbitant Privilege,” for us! Is our good fortune at risk? What would be the consequences to us and our economy if we were to lose it?

On May 5, WACSC is honored to sponsor one of the world’s experts on the subject, Professor Barry Eichengreen, to speak on Whither the Dollar: Exorbitant Privilege No More? The luncheon program will be at Iron & Vine restaurant at the Bennet Valley Golf Course.

Teacher, lecturer and author, Barry Eichengreen is the George C. Pardee and Helen Pardee Professor of Economics and Political Science at UC Berkeley. He is also a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Mass., and at the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London. His book, The Exorbitant Privilege, is a definitive study of this all-important topic.

Health note: We suggest that attendees be vaccinated and wear masks except while eating.
