About the Program

When the election is over, it's time to shift gears!

From the Andes to the Himalayas, mountains have an extraordinary power to evoke a sense of the sacred. Let Edwin Berbaum take us on a breathtaking and emotionally impactful photographic journey revealing how mountains from Ecuador to Nepal and from China to Greece have left their powerful imprint on the mythologies, religions, literature and art of cultures around the world. Drawing on personal experiences and research for his award-winning book Sacred Mountains of the World, Ed will show us the profound ways in which mountains embody our highest values and aspirations.  As an experienced mountaineer, Ed will also share with us the spiritual side of climbing. Climbing Mt. Everest may not be in everyone's wheelhouse, but we can all learn from, be inspired by, and enjoy tagging along vicariously with Ed as he climbs, contemplates, and photographs these majestic monuments of our world.
