Human Rights Struggle:
Lessons of Present-Day
Myanmar (Burma) Resistance

with Edith Mirante

Edith Mirante's sponsor is
Gabriel Campbell, WACSC Program Committee

About the Program

Must repressive, military dictatorships always win?  Myanmar (Burma) was in the headlines long before the devastating March 28 earthquake. A 2021 coup d'état, armed conflict and a humanitarian crisis have rocked this beautiful country of 55 million people.

But the story there now is that of a creative and courageous resistance. So, we’re fortunate to have American author, adventurer and activist Edith Mirante present Human Rights Struggle: Lessons of the Present-Day Myanmar Resistance, featuring how street protests blossomed to full-scale revolution.  Despite relentless bombing and no help from other countries, the resistance is now in control of most of Myanmar.
