Fixing American Healthcare:
An Impossible Task?

with Dr. Stephen M. Shortell
Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Health Policy
and Management, UC Berkeley and member of
World Affairs Council of Sonoma County

Stephen Shortell's sponsor is David Beckman,
WACSC Board Member

About the Program

More and more, the U.S. healthcare system is under fire as costly, wasteful, overly complex, and even harmful to patients.

And now, alarm bells are sounding on vaccine policies, Medicaid cuts, pandemic preparedness, continued inequalities in care, and more.

In his program, Fixing American Healthcare: An Impossible Task? Berkeley professor and long-time health care expert, Stephen Shortell, will hold a light up to our troubled system, and make comparisons with those of other countries, such as Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Israel, Russia, and more.

Front and center will be a discussion of how the U.S. delivers health care, how we pay for it, systemic inefficiency, large variations in quality of care, and what change would look like.
